The Algerian national team made a strong start to their Africa Cup of Nations campaign, defeating Sudan 3-0 in their first group stage match at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
The "Desert Foxes" entered the game forcefully, opening the scoring early in the 2nd minute through captain Riyad Mahrez, following a precise pass from Hicham Boudaoui, giving Algeria an early advantage.
Sudan's mission became complicated during the first half after being forced to complete the match with ten men following Salah Eldin's red card in the 39th minute, a situation Algeria exploited to tighten their control.
In the second half, Algeria maintained offensive pressure, with Riyad Mahrez scoring his second goal in the 61st minute, before Ibrahim Maza rounded off the scoring with a third goal in the 86th minute to confirm Algerian dominance.
With this win, Algeria earned their first three points to lead the group alongside Burkina Faso, while Sudan and Equatorial Guinea remain without points at the bottom of the table.
